It's been snowing on and off in Courchevel since about Monday night, yey! From my very well known, extremely scientific method of leaning out of the window with my ruler, I can say we've had between 15 and 20 cm in 1550 and maybe a bit more in 1850. Skiing yesterday was absolutely freezing because it was so windy though. At the top of Plantrey the lifties were having to heave us off the chair because the wind was pinning us to our seats! It closed very soon after and we headed down to La Tania where it is much more sheltered because of the trees. We had a great lunch in Le Ski Lodge and then headed back, half of us by the Tania bubble, then down to Le Praz and Praz bubble to 1850. The other half went home on the bus.
Today we headed over to Meribel to tackle the lovely new snow on Mont Vallon. It started off with a bit of high cloud but the views were amazing. I got my camera out and the battery died instantly, not so good! The snow was beautiful, especially on Grand Rosiere, an unpisted black down to Mottaret. We could see the Mont Vallon bubble running even though the board said it was closed so we risked it and got off at Plattiers 2. Luckily it was open but as we ascended, the clouds descended! By the time we got out at the top the light was so flat we could hardly see! Then the inevitable - I have never been down Mont Vallon and been able to see where we were. The last time I did it it rained, see the entry from March 2nd. This time though it decided to start just dumping down more snow! I think that Mountain hates me! Anyway, we had a cheap lunch in Mottaret and headed home as we weren't sure how much longer the links to the 3 Valleys would stay open in the awful weather. Never mind, all this new snow is great!
